TB remote content

Post by viking33 »

I thought I posted something before this, about TB remote content option not sticking. Did a search but didn't come up with anything.
So...using TB 12.0.1, and I get many emails with remote content blocked. I check to see if the "allow remote content" box is checked and it is. I click always allow RC but the next time I get a message from the same address, there it is telling me it's been blocked again? For whatever reason, it's not remembering the setting.
Any ideas for fixing this annoyance? :groan:

Shows how bad off I am - where is this remote content checkbox? I can't find it in my settings.

Do you use IMAP perhaps?

Nevermind. I did some reading and found this page: Privacy basics - Thunderbird - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

In the "Advanced" paragraph there is a config setting to change which they don't recommend. Hmmm, mine is already set to FALSE and I don't remember ever doing so.

Thanks, Al.
I did see that link before this and checked to see that I had already had it defaulting to TRUE.
It just doesn't keep the settings that I give it for any of my legit messages?

( BTW, that about:config is a real pain in the *** if you don't know exactly what you are looking for )

Doesn't it need to be set to FALSE, Bob?

I thought it read that it should be TRUE for security reasons?
Or do I have it bass-ackwards?

Mebbe I'm in a bad grammar day, Bob, but your issue is that messages with remote content are getting blocked and THAT is the default for security reasons.

The paragraph tells you how to turn OFF that blockage but they don't recommend it.
