Sneaky, Microsoft, Sneaky.

Post by stuckling1 »

On recently opening WL Mail Desktop, I was prompted to upgrade to WLM 2011.
I thought, fair enough, and clicked install.
I was offered the whole lot of the WL package - including Photos, Movie Maker, etc etc, but as I don't need them,
I told it to only update the two WL programs I actually use - Mail and Messenger.

When this was done, I thought nothing of it. Imagine my surprise when, a day or two later,
this 'helpful' little box appears-

Now I want none of these options, and I think it's a bit cheeky of MS to try and sneak them in long after I install their software, rather than at the "point of sale", or so to speak!

So the point of this post is just a heads-up to other users - if you upgrade your WL Mail, Messenger, Photos or whatever, keep an eye out for this sneaky little dialogue box!

Thanks - unfortunately, Microsoft is not the only company trying to trick us into allowing more than we intended...
Best wishes,

Something akin to this 'issue' has already been mentioned in The Lounge, see RonH's Windows Live Essentials download in Other Applications.
