OK, just got off the phone with Spectrum's Internet support. Please see the attachment, from the link above, and what is inside the box. I apparently do not have a Spectrum email address since it is from Time Warner Cable with an ending of *.neo.rr.com. In order to use the IMAP servers I would need to acquire a Spectrum email address and no longer be able to get emails in Outlook using the Time Warner Cable email address. So, bottom line, from what she said, as long as I continue to use the latest version of Outlook, Spectrum is going to support Time Warner Cable's legacy email addresses. I guess it's not that I can't use IMAP servers, it's if I did, I'd have to give up my current email address.

Re: Outlook 365 - Empty Inbox
I read everything and followed additional links inside where your link above sent me. I saw my domain servers and it sure looked to me like I should be able to use IMAP. I am going to have to try and get better technical support from Spectrum because, as mentioned above, I did talk to them again yesterday. Again, I was told I could not use my *.neo.rr.com email address and have it use IMAP for my Outlook account. Wish I understood this better,JoeP wrote: ↑24 Aug 2024, 17:32I can't see what you mean on any Spectrum support page. This page, Email setup, has directions for all twc domains including rr.com.

Well, good luck. Getting to talk to someone who actually knows something about an issue is problematic with Spectrum in my experience. While I find their internet service reliable their support through the years has been less than good most of the time. At some point, you'll probably have to insist on talking to a "second" level person instead of someone just following their script.

Re: Outlook 365 - Empty Inbox
Probably not very helpful, but just for your information.
I use the Outlook client on multiple PCs. I have many different email accounts and (with one exception) I use POP3 to download emails to the PCs. I have never seen emails 'disappear' from a client PC.
I always use Control Panel > Mail (Microsoft Outlook) (32-bit)
to configure my email accounts as the Outlook client has very limited capability to configure POP3.
In the More Settings... option I configure the Advanced tab to "Leave a copy on the server" and "Remove from the server after 30 days". This gives the other PCs time to collect the POP3 email before it gets deleted from the server.

Re: Outlook 365 - Empty Inbox
I totally agree. Also many times I have asked to talk to a second level support. When I do that they try to talk me out of it because they have to create a ticket. I have about 10 tickets created over the years, mostly for my DVRs. Spectrum, in my opinion, has terrible support, just as bad as Time Warner' was.JoeP wrote: ↑25 Aug 2024, 19:04Well, good luck. Re: Outlook 365 - Empty Inbox
I just hope POP3 sticks around. I have all my computers set to leave the emails on Spectrum's server except 1. The computer I consider my main computer removes the emails from the server after they are downloaded to my main computer.StuartR wrote: ↑25 Aug 2024, 21:20Probably not very helpful, but just for your information.

Re: Outlook 365 - Empty Inbox
Joe, I have a question for you. Did you ever have any company say they would not send emails to your ISP's servers or that your ISP's servers were blocking their email from reaching you?JoeP wrote: ↑25 Aug 2024, 19:04Well, good luck. I had both instances I just mentioned above happen to me.
1. When I first signed up for Netflix's DVD service about 15 years ago, my Time Warner's ISP was blocking Netflix's emails. So, I had them sent to my Gmail account and then forwarded to my Time Warner's server.
2. I use a program called MasterCook to keep track of recipes. They use some company to send out notices or special promotions. I can't remember the name of that company but they out right refused to send any emails at all to Spectrum's *.neo.rr.com servers. So, once more I had to use Gmail.
Not sure how to handle Spectrum anymore, they are so expensive when you use them for phone, Internet, and TV service, especially when using DVR's

Re: Outlook 365 - Empty Inbox
I had problems at work a long time ago with AT&T refusing emails. I don't remember who our mail host was at the time. It mostly depends on the spam detection engine they are using. I had to go through several hoops to get us off the "bad" list and had to repeat the process more than once.
I quit using Spectrum's email quite a few years ago when they had a very paltry maximum mailbox size and message size. I went with live.com (now Outlook.com). Microsoft has had several email domains they have pushed through the years that have all been subsumed by Outlook.com although the original email addresses still work. I use Spectrum for phone and internet service only. I got fed up with what I considered to be their outrageous TV costs. If my wife would give up our land line I would only use them for Internet service. I subscribe to YouTubeTV for TV service. That has its own set of drawbacks if you are big into regional sports networks. It does have an unlimited cloud DVR that it quite handy.

Thanks Joe. I have looked into and even thought about going to all streaming but as you say, they too have their drawbacks. Some day, maybe.

My preference for using IMAP is that sent emails and folder structures are reflected across all clients.
Do you always copy yourself when you send an email?
