Re: Can this text be enlarged permanently
From the screen shot, it looks like you might be using Outlook 2010. If so, try the instructions here:

Outlook 2010 has a ribbon, I suspect it's Outlook 2007. Anyway, I'll move this to the Outlook forum.
Best wishes,
Hans

Unfortunately, according to that article, you have to enlarge the menu font for ALL applications in Windows, since Outlook 2007 doesn't have a setting for it.

Re: Can this text be enlarged permanently
Yes, I saw that.
Odd that only Outlook 2010 has a native feature to change that aspect of the interface. Sort of reinforces stuckling1's view that we reached 'Peak Good' with Win 7 and Office 2010

Re: Can this text be enlarged permanently
Thanks Struck / Hans.......followed the directions OK which changed the font size of incoming emails but the menu text is unchanged. As mentioned perhaps this cannot be altered. Thanks Anyway Dave.

Are you really sure that you increased the font size of the menu text?

Re: Can this text be enlarged permanently
Sure did Hans as shown here, what has happened though -which is a sort of bonus- the text font size in the menu bar of IE has increased but only some of the titles in OE. Thanks Dave.

Re: Can this text be enlarged permanently
Yes, you have followed the instructions correctly! But although the same instructions can be found in many places, they don't seem to work for the navigation pane in Outlook 2007.
I hope that someone else who still has this version can test it and perhaps come up with a better suggestion (I have Outlook 2019)

Re: Can this text be enlarged permanently
Thanks again Hans; so pleased I followed the instructions correctly; what benefits does Outlook 2019 have over 2017 and is it available for free upgrade? Thanx Dave.

Re: Can this text be enlarged permanently
Outlook 2019 sports the Ribbon interface, just like Word and Excel already do in Office 2007. Apart from that, the differences aren't huge.
I'm afraid there is no free upgrade from 2007 to 2019.

Re: Can this text be enlarged permanently
Thanks. will stay with 2017 as it does all I need, in fact in my humble opinion there was nothing really lacking with the Windows XP system either but sometimes we have no option but to go with change. I am inclined to think you might have upgraded to the Windows 2010 version! what is your opinion of it? My local computer shop owner tells me he has had a few customers asking him to replace the 2010 version for that of 2017 and he is inclined to agree with their decision.
Regards Dave.

Re: Can this text be enlarged permanently
You have to distinguish between Windows and Office.
Windows is the operating system of your computer, all applications - your browser, the Office applications, etc. etc. run on this operating system.
You have Windows 7, and I have the current version Windows 10. Windows 7 still works fine, but Microsoft will stop releasing security updates for it on the 20th of January, 2020, so in a bit more than 2 months time. It might be a good idea to switch to Windows 10, it will continue to be updated.
Office is the suite of programs containing Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. You have Office 2007, and the current version is Office 2019. If you're satisfied with Office 2007, you can keep on using it. It will continue to run if you upgrade your operating system to Windows 102010.
