I have never seen Outlook 2013 so I'm not sure how similar it is to Outlook 2010. I may need to help a friend setup an Outlook 2013 email account. Do you access the accounts and setup them up same way in 2013 as in 2010 as far as defining the incoming and outgoing servers, etc.?
Thanks

It works exactly the same in Outlook 2013 as in Outlook 2010.

Re: Outlook 2010 vs. 2013 Email Accounts
I got my friends Outlook 2013 profile setup. He had been using Yahoo mail and had all his contacts in it so I talked him through exporting them to what Yahoo defines as an Outlook CSV file. I then tried talking him through importing them into Outlook’s Contact folder but stopped when he told me the only choice he had in the import wizard was a CSV file, not a Windows CSV or a DOS CSV file. Is this true and should I have had him choose that one and tried to continue? Had it been my computer I probably would have taken the chance but I don’t want to mess up someone else’s computer.
Not sure if it is relevant but he was having trouble authenticating his copy of Office 2013 on this new laptop and thought maybe his Outlook’s capabilities were limited until the authentication was done properly which is now the case after he had to call MS to get it done. I have no experience with that ever happening but have my doubts it is going to make any difference as far as the choices presented in Outlook’s Import wizard.

Your friend can go ahead and import the .csv file. He'll get the chance to map the csv file's fields to fields in Outlook using the 'Map Custom Fields' button.

Hans

OK thanks and that is good to know since I won't be sitting in front of his computer to see what exactly it is saying. Is there anything specific I should know about that 'Map Custom Fields' button to tell him when we get to that point?

I just found a tutorial for it on line. So I think I can help him. Thanks again since I had never heard of the 'Map Custom Fields' button before.

See the section named "Step 3: Map your CSV file columns to Outlook contact fields" in Import contacts from an Excel spreadsheet.
