FireFox Blockage

Post by Roderunner »

Hi Folks, I have the latest version of FF on my 2 computers. I have 3 portable versions on my Laptop and 1 on my Desktop PC.
If I go to My RoadWorks Site I get this as in my first image on all versions of FF except the installed version on my Desktop PC.
RR.JPG
I also get these settings all at 'Default'.

_______
On my Desktop PC, I tried clearing all history, I tried ipconfig /flushdns in a command prompt as Admin, nothing changed. I then used the new version of Revouninstaller to remove FF. Reinstalled FF but as I use the Sync system, it was replaced exactly as it was before removal.
P.S. If I use Private browsing it still wont work on installed FF on my Desktop PC.

What is "this" in "I get this on all versions of FF"?

An Update.
as I was getting this image everywhere except on the installed version of FF on my Desktop PC.
RR.JPG
This was exactly as I wanted, road closure information.

I thought as I was getting the image when using FF portable, I set it as default on my Laptop, it stopped give the info as in my image.
I opened Internet Explorer, I got the image I wanted. I then set IE as default, the image stopped.
I went to Laptop's FF installed version, it was not my default browser, and I got the image pop up as I wanted. On setting it to default, I stopped getting the pop up.

What happens if you set "Open pop-up windows" to "Allow" in the Permissions dialog from your first post?

Hans

Hi George, could this have anything to do with it?

If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.

Its quite easy to set to allow but as there is no link to save setting, it returns to original when closed, all at default again.
I tried adding it as an 'exception' in FF options 'Privacy and Security' section to allow pop ups. It did nothing either.

In which case try using uBlock Origin as your ad blocker.

Never heard of uBlock Origin till now. I used to use Adblock Plus but it was giving trouble. AdGuard AdBlocker was advised by member of FF Forum. I have been visiting RoadWorksScotland with AdGuard AdBlocker installed on all my versions of FF for months without a problem, but this started after FF was updated to the current version.

Joking aside, any tips for it's use would be appreciated.

I found this after installing it, I like how it auto updates it's filters.

Well, then I'm part of Ken's family; can't remember when I switched to uBlock Origin though.

I must say that I agree with Hans, it was a bit difficult to understand your problem (a good idea is to include what was expected and the result). Good that it's solved. That said, my top three candidates, when something isn't working with the browser, are cookies, scripts and adblocking software. These days many of us use some whitelists, or rules, for these. (And when troubleshooting, as Eddie Izzard said (realising that there is an ON switch on the printer) there is always one :censored: thing you haven't done). Next after those three would be tweaks in settings and config.

(Some months ago the Internet connection went down, and as usual I logged on to the router, or tried, and found that it didn't work. Wrong username & password? Nope. Some weeks earlier I had updated the firmware, and suddenly it needed cookies.)

As for uBlock Origin, as Ken said; you will also notice that you can right-click on a page and block certain elements, they will end up in "My filters" in settings.

Hi Argus, Hans pointed out my badly worded text in my original post, which I edited. I thought the text in my first image explained it fairly well, plus what I had done to attempt to fix it below.
-
I have now found my Road Works site is like the Lounge, it does not have HTTPS, so I made adjustments in FF settings, which are not instantaneous but are now Working. The Lounge works perfectly without any changes.
