Search bar vs address bar

Post by Rudi »

Hi,

I've been giving FF Quantum a try and one thing I'm not clear on is the difference between the search bar and the address bar? I've actually disabled the search bar in Options, but before I dismiss it; can I ask what the real purpose (advantage) for it is (if the address bar can also do search and navigation)? The web does not really provide a good distinguishing between them and why one might want to keep it active?

TX

Rudi

The Search Bar appears to be there solely for people who are used to it; I don't think it serves any purpose since the address bar has had full search functionality for a long time now.
Best wishes,
Hans

Wow! That's quite a "clean" (even bare) setup.
Just a Reload and Home button, and a lonesome ad blocker.
No customization? Where are all your shortcuts?

My Firefox Home Page is even cleaner - it's the same as my New Tab page:

Yes, of course. How else did you think I managed to remove most default icons?

If you mean Bookmarks, they are all on the main menu, the others are in my 4 folders.

I gathered that Hans. It was just said jokingly.

Interesting that you use menus. I again prefer the bookmark bar...

Another reason to not show Highlights on the New Tab page is that Firefox connects to all these sites as it fills the page.

I see no reason to "ping" the world every time I open a browser tab.
