Things continue to go downhill at Firefox...

I seem to have missed that bit of 'progress'. My new tab is still completely blank, i.e this update has respected my previous choice of not having anything showing on a new tab and it hasn't 'helpfully' ticked the 'include suggested sites' box for me.

So downhill maybe but not all the way to the very bottom.

Same for me as for Ken: the setting I already had is unchanged.

After uninstalling Last Pass which closed Firefox, I reopened it. The gear icon was not in the toolbar; so I used Customize and dragged it there. Clicking on it takes me to Tools>Options. There is nothing about New Tab options displayed. I'm running Win 7 HPE and Fx 41.0.

The gear icon in my screenshot is not on the toolbar. It is displayed in all new tab pages (click the + next to the rightmost tab to create a new tab, or press Ctrl+T).
Best wishes,
Hans

I get a new tab with nothing displayed clicking the + or using CTL-T, but there is no gear displayed.

The gear icon, as shown in Hans screen shot, is in the top right corner of a new tab, at least it is on both my home PCs (one XPMCE, one Win 7 starter) and all the office PCs at work (Win 7 Enterprise).

You could try this add-on: SearchReset.

Actually, no. The mozillazine forums recommend that add-in if the gear icon in the new tab page is missing.

Ken

Thanks, Ken!

My attention span and mental alertness seem to be failing. But, after all, I'm past my 'use by' date. I've had my 3 score and 10 and now enjoy bonus rounds.

Thanks, again, for pointing it out. I got 'er fixed now.

Ah! Now I understand. I did think it was odd for :hailpraise: the omnipotent Hans :hailpraise: to make such a gross error.

OK, maybe not omnipotent but you are very good and extremely quick at finding answers so the end result for the rest of us is the appearance of omnipotence.
