New (?) icon in address bar

Post by PaulB »

I just updated Flash to the latest version. I then noticed that when visiting some sites, a new icon showed up in the address bar. It indicates that Flash is enabled on the site and gives me the option to block the plugin or continue to allow it.

Is this a result of installing the plugin, or (more likely) something new in Firefox 24.0 that I did not notice before?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

It's a new feature of Firefox. The "Lego" icon will be red if there are vulnerable or outdated plugins active on the page, blue if there are disabled plugins on the page (you can enable them by clicking on the icon), and grey when plugins are activated (or the web page itself offers the ability to allow/block a plugin).
Best wishes,
Hans

Is this an option setting?
I've got ver. 24 and don't see that icon at all.

I'm with Viking Bob. Fx 24.0 and no icon. I checked add-ons and don't have a flash add-on. I don't do a lot of video watching; so I always figured I didn't need flash. Am I missing something?

I'm not sure that the icon appeared before I updated Flash, but I couldn't swear to it. Then again, I don't know if Flash has anything to do with it at all.

Paul

Guess we will have to wait for Hans to check in here for more details.

Mozilla Forums have a few suggestions here:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/971526" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I haven't tried any of them yet so let us know if they work.

Apparently you have to create your own CSS (cascading style sheets) to hide the "lego brick" icon.

Yes but I don't see the icon to begin with, so can't hide it?
Curious as to why it's there for some but not all to see?

Perhaps you're not running any plugins?

Can't explain it then. Perhaps a Firefox expert can shed some light on it.
Best wishes,
