Query issue in MS Access

Post by VKKT »

Greeting:
I am back with some silly stuff again.
In the attached DB there are two queries as below:
1)With the field “Detailed Description” : Here the hours for certain projects are not showing for Ganesh but for Martin the hours for all the projects are showing.
2)Without the field “Detailed Description”: Here the hours for all projects are showing for both staff.
I am confused how this is happening? I am not able to find the reason with my limited knowledge in MS Access. I need the Option 1 above.
Please help me to solve this issue.
Regards,
VKKT

I don't understand why it happens, but you can solve it by changing the Total option for DetailedDescription from Group By to First.
Best wishes,
Hans

Thanks Mr. Hans for the response.
Here i noticed one thing if i write different detailed description (Now all the det descrp. are same) then the hours will show in separate lines for all the projects.

I will try this if it is ok asper my requirement.

Thanks

Apparently, the length of the text is a problem. If you change DetailedDescription to

Description: Left([DetailedDescription],200)

you can set the Total option to Group By, and all hours will be displayed...
Best wishes,
Hans
