Access 2010 Freezes on Form Error

Lately, I have been experiencing Access freezing when an error occurs on a form.
The error pops up and, normally I would debug the error, compile, save and then go back to the form to put it into design mode, etc.
However, when I go back to the form, the system is frozen and will not clear and so I have to close it with Task Manager.

I have looked at all the user options from File.
The form is opened normally (not Popup or Modular).
I can go back to the editor ok, but nothing else.
Click the Stop button in the editor would normally also grey out the resume button but it stays blue (meaning, I think) that the code is still running.

I would appreciate any thoughts or insights into this if you have any.
