Hi,
I am trying to create to a DB on an new instance of sql server 2012 and get the attached message. SQL was installed by the user's IT over the WE without any issues. I'm not sure where to start looking for problems.

There are many possible causes - see Potential causes of the "SQL Server does not exist or access denied" error message (this article is for older versions of SQL Server, but most of it will still apply to SQL Server 2012).
