[Powerpoint 2013] Can you decide where to split a slide?

Post by New Daddy »

The slide-splitting functionality of Powerpoint comes in handy often, except that Powerpoint seems to base its decision on where to split the slide rather randomly.

Can we tell Powerpoint precisely where the slide has to be divided into two?

You can do the following:
- In Normal view, activate the Outline tab in the left hand pane.

- Position the insertion point at the end of the line where you want to split the slide.
- Press Enter.
- Type (or copy/paste) the text that will become the title of the new slide.
- Click the 'Decrease List Level' button on the Home tab of the ribbon.

Well, I already do that, but I was hoping there was a more automated way of doing it.

That would require VBA, which I cannot help you with in PowerPoint. As Rudi suggested in another thread, you might ask in the Microsoft Community forums. Several PowerPoint MVPs are active there, and they are very helpful.
Best wishes,

I usually right click and duplicate the slide, then delete unwanted content from each copy
