Excel on Citrix

I have Excel 2003 running on Citrix. I have a workbook with macros, which gets data from Oracle.

The macro runs fine on my machine.
If I log on to the Citrix desktop and open Excel, the macro runs fine.
If I publish the workbook as an application, and launch the published app, the macro runs, but not successfully. There is a "TNS Filename" error. i.e. it likely is not finding the TNS file.
If I close the workbook, but not Excel, and then reopen the workbook, in exactly the same session, the macro runs fine.

The citrix application command line is "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\EXCEL.EXE" "D:\path\filename.xls"

My guess is that I have a path issue. I believe that Excel is not seeing the path set in the environment variable, but only in the one instance shown above.

While I chase this path issue I thought I would post here to see if anyone has any insite. Thanks.
