Hi all,
I have searched high and low for an answer on the web (and have learned a lot in searching), but I still cannot figure out why this simple expression is not calculating? Since the syntax of my expression is correct, all i can deduce is that the relationship is problematic, but if I check relationships on the design tab, it exists and is fine??
Any advice will be highly appreciated. TX

I don't know if there is anyone here who uses PowerPivot (apart from you, obviously)...
Best wishes,

Re: DAX expression error in PowerPivot?
I predict that in the next 6 months we will need to create a new board for this Excel add-on. I am sure that when it becomes more popular, there will be a host of questions and posts for this.
I guess I'll have to continue searching. Many TX
PS: I have not been around lately, but are we missing a link on the portal for unanswered posts? I am sure there was a link to show all posts without replies yet. Where has that gone?

It seems to have disappeared, probably when we upgraded to a new version of phpBB. I'll add it back later today.
Best wishes,

What's the relationship? It looks to me as though you might be on the wrong end of a one to many relationship (presumably your product could be involved in many orders).

It had only disappeared from the prosilver skin, it's back now. The other skins were not affected.Rudi wrote:...are we missing a link on the portal for unanswered posts?

Woah... This is new and weird??
It seems you need to be on the many's side of the relationship for the formula to work!!
This was never an issue in Access Queries... So I guess i'll have to be a little more vigilant about this. TX Rory....I was literally pulling my hair out with this irritation.

Re: DAX expression error in PowerPivot?
It would be a similar situation in Access.
If you think about it it is quite logical - after all, in the context of the row on your first example, which of the many related order quantity items for that product should it return?

Re: DAX expression error in PowerPivot?
You are right. My reference to Access queries is in the context of a new query where one creates a new data table based on two related tables. The expression in the third table can be anything...no order or logic required based on the relationship direction. In PowerPivot there is no third table...so it is very relevant here.
Thanks a stack for your logical solution. :)
