Hello. Excel 2003 (possibly 2007).
When linking to a SQL Server I can tell it to update every minute as a minimum.
Is it possible to make this a 'live' connection? I think it might be possible with ADO programming from VBA, but perhaps there is 'another way''?
Andy.

Why would you want to? Think of the load you'll be imposing on the server!
Best wishes,

I quite agree, but I'll need to respond to the question. I don't even think they should update after so many minutes - update on file open should be good enough.

Re: SQL Live Reporting
I would create an OLAP cube in SQL and pull down the data on demand via the riboon, the overhead would be horrific otherwise.

Re: SQL Live Reporting
Sounds intriguing - I've often wondered about OLAP cubes.I have SQL Server so what would be a first step?
Andy.

Re: SQL Live Reporting
The short answer is yes - the table properties allow you to specify both a refresh interval and to refresh on open.
