UK Bank holidays
Hello.
Any idea where I might obtain a list of UK bank holiday dates? I can find recent ones but I want to go back 20 or 30 years!
Andy.

Thanks both.
I'm getting there, but there's Easter to consider. And I think there must have been a few more odd days - queen's anniversary, was there a day for Diana's wedding?

For Easter there is a rather bizarre Excel formula you can use, for details see http://www.cpearson.com/excel/Easter.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: UK Bank holidays
These dates are in a weird format - the day May-05 is actually 1st May 2005!
I might give up. I'm just building some sample staff data and wanted their start dates to avoid bank holidays. I avoided dates for Christmas and new year. The probability from my small list (100 staff) of any being employed on a bank holiday is small.

Re: UK Bank holidays
You'd have to add New Year's Day too.
For Easter, see Easter Dates 1901 - 2078. The dates of Easter Sunday are given in dd.mm format, but it should be easy enough to change it to dd/mm and to calculate Easter Monday.
The wedding day of Charles and Diana, 29 July 1981, was a bank holiday. The Queen's Jubilee (3 June 2002) too.

Re: UK Bank holidays
I began the process to convert the dates but some of them had years in the 1900s rather than 2000s. As this is only for some sample data I thought it was more trouble than it was worth.
But you're right, I am a little lazy at times..

You made me feel guilty so I've sorted it now. I also obtained a list of holidays from Outlook to assist.HansV wrote:You want everything handed to you on a platter, don't you...
Thanks both, Andy.

I think you ought to take up the name Bankquo, which has a literary tinge.agibsonsw wrote:As this is only for some sample data I thought it was more trouble than it was worth.

I'm afraid the reference eludes me. I started to do some research but gave upJohn Gray wrote:I think you ought to take up the name Bankquo, which has a literary tinge.

That's the chap! Shakspere wasn't really any good at spelling...

Re: UK Bank holidays
I knew that, but I didn't understand the reference.
It might hint that I'm not a true 'geek' - not participating in the feast. I might disagree; I spent several hours trying to place banded colours behind a web page, even though it looked ugly and I had already received a nice solution to it, and I had no intention of ever using it!

Re: UK Bank holidays
John Gray will have to answer that, but somehow I don't think his joke was that deep - I'd guess it was meant as a play on words for its own sake.
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: UK Bank holidays
Hans is entirely correct; it was a play on works between Bank Holidays and Banquo.
