Adding page numbers

I have a workbook with a various number of sheets that may or may not get printed. Is it possible to add a page number to the first page of first sheet and to continue on to the last page of the last sheet only to the sheets that are being printed?
Once again I’m probably reaching for straws, but I’ll never know for sure unless I ask

If you select the sheets that you want to print, page numbering will be contiguous and sequential across the selected sheets.

I didn’t realize it was that simple, if so I would have done this a loooonng time ago.
