Hi,
Is there a way to add (and keep) an enrty for new currency in the Currency formatting drowdown?
I know ift is linked to regional settings, but in addition to my regional currency, I'd like a few more symbols for international currencies we use in our sheets.
Any ideas?

As far as I know, the list cannot be customized.

Re: Add currency options to currency dropdown
The image above is a screen capture from the internet.
My actual Excel has $ and R (Rand) (only two entries).
If it cannot be customized how can the screenshot above have 5 entries?
I'm not arguing the point... just trying to understand the difference and what constitutes it?
I don't get much for the web searches I've done?
Maybe loungers can tell me what is in their currency dropdown and we can see if a pattern can be established regarding regional settings, etc??

Re: Add currency options to currency dropdown
OK - your regional settings influence what's shown in the dropdown list. If your local currency is Rand, R will be displayed in the dropdown, and the same may be true for neighbouring countries. But - again, as far as I know - you cannot add or remove items from the list.
This is what it looks like for me:

Re: Add currency options to currency dropdown
Here are various outputs based on changing countries in the regional settings format.
All show (South Africa) as I left the location set to RSA in the second tab of Regional Settings.
As can be seen, the change affects the currency output.
Hans, I believe your analysis is correct then...
Changing region affects what is displayed in the dropdown, nothing more!
