Word 2010 - Keeping Templates up to date

Post by ChrisPr »

I am one of the dangerous ones - Some knowledge, little skill :-)

I have created a template. In the process of creating my documents, I have made minor tweaks/corrections to some of my styles. I want to be sure that my template is up to date with these changes.

My limited understanding of templates is that changes in a document based on that template will not be implemented in the template, only in the document. If this is correct, how should I keep my template up to date?

Assume no knowledge :)

TIA

If you edit a style in a document based on a template, by default the modifications will be saved with the document only. However, the Modify Style dialog has a radio button "New documents based on this template":

If you select this radio button, the modifications will be saved in the template as well as in the document.
When you close the document, you'll get two prompts: first to save changes to the document, then to save changes to the template. Make sure you answer Yes to both.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Best wishes,
