Setting new font default with Word 2007 on Windows 7

Post by ABabeNChrist »

I’m having a problem try to set my default up on my NORMAL template to a desired font type, size. I tried making changes using the Dialog pane (click small arrow in corner of Font area), and saving as default. It always seems to resort back to original default settings. I’m using Word 2007 on my Windows 7. I tried to find where the NORMAL template maybe located with no success (using search and Office button/Open/template).

The default location for the Normal template is

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates\Normal.dotm

where <username> is your Windows login name. AppData is a hidden folder, so you must show hidden files and folders in Windows Explorer, otherwise you won't see the Templates folder.
Best wishes,
Hans

As I wrote, AppData is a hidden folder. You have to show hidden files and folders in order to see it. Here are step-by-step instructions:

Start Windows Explorer.
Click Organize > Folder and Search Options...
Activate the View tab.
Tick the check box "Show hidden files and folders".
Click OK.

You should now be able to see the AppData folder.
Best wishes,
Hans
