Did Word (XP and earlier) ever have 'Make Same height' tool

Post by darsha »

I used to customise the drawing toolbar with various tools, group/ungroup, align left/right/top/bottom etc and I thought I remembered it having some tools akin to make same size/height/width.

Were there ever such tools or did I imagine them?

It's been some time since I used Word 2002, but if I remember correctly, it had options to align selected objects and to distribute them horizontally or vertically, but not to make them the same size (as in Access). To make objects the same size, select them, then select Format | Format AutoShape (or whatever the menu option says), activate the Size tab of the dialog that appears and enter the desired values for Height and Width, then click OK.
Best wishes,
Hans

Are you not getting mixed up with table cell tools. Make distribute columns or rows to equal width?

Rudi

If your absence does not affect them, your presence didn't matter.

Access had/has To Tallest/To Shortest/To Narrowest/To Widest to resize button etc on form. I know I've done some rough and ready flow chart type things in Word using text boxes and connectors and must have used something the get boxes the same size of lines the same length.

I'm sure I'm getting mixed up but definitely not with tables :)

You can make objects snap to a grid. This makes it easy to equalize the width and height of objects.

(The option can be found in Drawing toolbar, Draw > Grid)
Best wishes,
Hans

Thanks
I guess my memory is playing tricks on me. I use office very infrequently now and feel completely lost with ribbons.
