Paste Text Only

Post by jmt356 »

I have "Keep Text Only" selected for all Cut, copy and paste options in File | Options | Advanced (Pasting within the same document, Pasting from other programs, etc.), yet Word pastes both text and source formatting. The same is true for Outlook. How do I get Word and Outlook to paste text only?
Regards,

JMT

Select File > Options > Advanced.
Under 'Cut, copy and paste', has the check box 'Show Paste Options button when content is pasted' been ticked?
If not, tick that check box and click OK. Does that make a difference?
Best wishes,
Hans

It was not ticked. I just ticked it and now Word is pasting only the text.

I find this counterintuitive. I would think selecting "Keep Text Only" would cause the paste function to paste only regardless of whether "Show Paste Options buttons when content is pasted" is ticked.

How do I change the default paste settings in Outlook?

In Word, in File | Options | Advanced, I see options for Pasting within the same document, Pasting from other programs, etc., but not in Outlook.

Select File > Options.
Select Mail.
Click Editor Options...
Select Advanced.
Scroll down to the section Cut, Copy and Paste...

Doesn't that setting impact only my mail? What about paste settings in the Notes section of Contacts, for example?

When I copy 10 pt Arial text from one contact to another, Outlook changes the formatting to Calibri 11, a font that stubbornly persists in my Office applications despite all my best efforts to get rid of it.
When I copy 10 pt Arial text from a contact to an email or to a Word document, the 10 pt Arial font is preserved.
I have Keep Source Formatting selected in my settings.

How can I keep everything I paste within Outlook to 10 pt Arial?
