Another table style question

Post by LisaGreen »

HEllo,

I have a custom table style.

Does anyone know of a way to do a one click apply please?

It's not in the styles pane apparently "by design" as far as I've googled, so applying it means opening the tables styles. It's a bit "in your face" really. Ideally I'd like it in the styles pane or the quick styles menu.

TIA
Lisa

Version of Word?
There are also Quick Tables which are building blocks.

You may be able to attack a keyboard shortcut to a table style. I haven't tried.
There is a table style gallery. All you need is to be in a table.

As Charles mentions, there is a table style gallery in the Design tab of the ribbon, under Table Tools, when the selection is in a table. Custom table styles will appear in this gallery:

You can assign a keyboard shortcut to a (custom) table style:

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Best wishes,

Thank you you guys!

One of the sites I've come across today says that table styles are not included in the styles pane and that this is "by design". No getting around that one!

<Sigh>

I'm using your solutions of course.

THank you Charles and Hans.

It is my experience that when you apply a custom style via the style gallery in the Design tab of the ribbon you can only be sure it wil give you the effect you want if you apply that custom style to a completely clean table, i.e. a table with no formatting at all. If the table has any sort of formatting already applied that existing formating appears to override the custom styling. In other words there isn't a one click apply solution. My routine is:
1) Select the entire table you want to custom style.
2) In the Table Tools | Design tab, click on the bottom right of the Table Style gallery scroll bar to expand the gallery.
3) At the bottom of the gallery there are three options (Modify, Clear, New) use the 'Clear' option.
4) Still with the entire table selected, click on the custom style you want.

Of course, your mileage may vary
