My wife uses Office 2013, and the default Bing Dictionary doesn't work. It always shows something like "we're having trouble connecting". After searching the web, we found out how to get a different dictionary installed - you have to go to the Microsoft Store, then type "dictionary" into the search box:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/b/home" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
After doing that, we were able to install another dictionary into Word. Sorry, but I don't remember the exact steps we used, since it took a few tries to get it right! Eventually it shows up under Apps for Office, and we now had two dictionaries.
When we use the Dictionary in Word, now we get two sets of results. One was the Bing Dictionary, which just shows "we're having trouble connecting". If possible, we would like to get rid of this item, since it just wastes screen space.

Can you remove the Bing dictionary through the Microsoft Store, through My Apps?
Best wishes,
Hans

Here's the procedure:
- In Word, go to the Insert ribbon and click My Apps.
- In the dialog box, click the Manage My Apps link in the top right area. That opens your default browser.
- Log in to your Microsoft Account.
- The Store opens to "My Apps for Office and SharePoint".
- In the row for Bing Dictionary, in the Action column, click the link for Hide.
- Sign out of the Store.
- Back in Word, in the Apps for Office dialog, click the Refresh link at the top right. The Bing Dictionary will disappear.

Thanks, Jay. I followed your instructions, and it looks like Bing is now GONE!
