Style Numbering issue

Post by Rudi »

What am I missing here?

Why is the second level style shaded in black?
I can't seem to fix it after a whole lot of tweaking! Its driving me

The numbering used for the Heading 2 style is corrupt.
This looks weird:
S1266.png
Clicking Font... results in
S1267.png
The dialog does open, but it shows a font size of 0:
S1268.png
The Advanced tab of the Font dialog won't open at all.

You can repair this as follows:
- Create a new document.
- Set up multi-level numbering using the Heading styles, preferably the way you want it in the problem document.
- Include at least one Heading 2 paragraph.
- Save and close the document.
- In your problem document, activate the Developer tab of the ribbon.
- Click Document Template.
- Click Organizer...
- Your document will be on the left, and the Normal template on the right.
- Click Close File under the Normal template.
- Click Open File...
- Open the document that you just created (by default, Word will display only templates, but you can select Word Documents as file type).
- Select the Heading 2 style in the new document.
- Click <-Copy and confirm.
- Close the Organizer.
- If necessary, edit the Heading 2 style.

I'm "glad" to get the confirmation that it was corrupt? It makes me feel better to know why I was not able to correct it.

Thanks for the fix.
My plan of action was to create the new numbering and then copy the original and paste the text with merge formatting. This does work too, but there was highlight formatting in the original that does not transfer and your fix prevented me from having to re-apply that highlighting.

Cheers.

Rudi, I'm sure you are aware of Shawna Kelly's page. However, I try to make sure that any thread on numbering contains a link to it in case it is found by someone else in a search.
