For as long as I can remember when I have saved a Word document (I have Microsoft Office 2007), as a template, it has automatically saved to My Templates. Suddenly today it is going to the source file. That is NOT happening with Excel. I saved Excel spreadsheets as templates today and they went to My Templates.
How can I change this and get Word documents saved as templates saving automatically to My Templates please?
Thank you.

I'm not sure that it's possible to do that. At some point, Microsoft stopped switching to the Templates folder, as you have found. I think they changed it again in Word 2013 and/or 2016.
Do you see "Trusted Templates" in the navigation pane on the left hand side of the Save As dialog? If so, clicking it will take you to your user templates folder.

Re: Document saved as template not going to My Templates
Thanks for the information, and as always, the mega-quick and excellent response, Hans.
I wish Microsoft hadn't done that. Yes, I did see Trusted Templates and I have now clicked there.
It is strange (but pleasing) that Microsoft didn't do that with Excel, though.
