Goodday everyone, i would like some help on the following:
I have created a Word 2010 electronic form. I would like to save this as a .txt file and then import that into Excel. I am saving the Word file with the option "preserve fidelity when sharing this document" and then it saves as a .txt file. But when i open the text file, it is empty..... What am i doing wrong? I want only the form fields (filled in by recipients of my questionnaire) to appear in the text file.
Help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to Eileen's Lounge!
I have moved your question to the Word forum since the problem appears to occur in Microsoft Word.
Have you created the form with the legacy form fields, or using the newer content controls?

It was created using "content controls"... not "Legacy form fields"

The option "Save form data as delimited text file" works only with the Legacy form fields, not with Content controls. There is no built-in way to save the data from a form with Content controls.
Word MVP Graham Mayor has created a free add-in that provides this capability. See Word Add-In to extract data from protected forms.

For an Excel macro that extracts formfield and content control data from all documents in a selected folder, see: http://www.msofficeforums.com/word/2755 ... #post87355" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
