Hi,
Is it possible in a Word TOC to show all Levels 1 and only specific level 2's?
I am aware that one can show page numbers for only certain levels by modifying the field code, but can a similar edit be done to show level 2 for only certain level 1 points and hide the rest of the level 2's?
TX.
Addition:
I have since found out that I can select the level 2 headings in the document and on the Reference Ribbon, in the TOC group, I can use the Add text drop down button and select "Do not show in the TOC". I'm not sure if there is another "better" way of doing this, so please let me know. TX.

Re: Word TOC Show Levels
Keep in mind that "Do not show in the TOC" demotes a heading paragraph to a normal paragraph!
If you want to include all level 1 paragraphs and only specific level 2 paragraphs, create TC fields for the level 2 paragraphs that you want to include.
A TC field looks like this when you display hidden text:
{ TC "Text to display" \l 2 }
"Text to display" is the text that will appear in the TOC.
\l 2 specifies that it will be shown as a level 2 entry.
When creating the TOC, click Options...
Include only Heading 1, and also tick the check box "Table entry fields", then click OK.
A TOC specified like that will look like this when you display field codes:
{ TOC \o "1-1" \f \h }
\o "1-1" specifies Heading 1 only.
\f specifies that TC fields will be used.
\h makes the page numbers hyperlinks.

Great detail...TX.
I'll play around with this concept.

Depending on exactly where in the document the different headings are, you may be able to bookmark the part of the document you want the TOC to show and use the \b switch in your bookmark field

...use the \b switch in your bookmark field...
Do you mean use the \b switch in the TOC field?
I'll have to look that up as I cannot say I have done that.
Addition:
Ah...I see it in use here, under the heading: A partial table of contents.
