Drop Down selection

Post by MisterQ »

Is it possible to have a drop down selection in word, such as Data Validation / "List" is Excel?

Welcome to Eileen's Lounge!

Make sure that the Developer tab of the ribbon is displayed. If not:
- Select File > Options.
- Select Customize Ribbon.
- Tick the check box for Developer in the list of Main Tabs on the right.
- Click OK.

Activate the Developer tab of the ribbon.
There are two relevant buttons in the Controls group:

A combo box control lets you select an item from a list, but also enter text yourself. A drop-down list control only allows items from the list.

Place on of these controls.
Click in the control, then click Properties in the Controls group.
Give the control a title.
Near the bottom of the dialog, in the Drop-Down List Properties section, click Add...
You can specify a display name and an underlying value (by default, the two will be the same).

Click OK to add the item to the list, then repeat as needed.
Click OK when done.

Best wishes,
