WordBasic -- When will it die?
I have a project which was written in WordBasic and later imported into Word 97. Over the years it has been tweaked in VBA but there are still many lines of code in WordBasic. Does anyone have any words of wisdom or forecasts on when Microsoft can be expected to pull the plug and leave Word unable to understand the WordBasic commands?
Regards
Don

Probably until Microsoft ends support for VBA...
(In other words, no idea)

Don, apart from the easily recognizably tongue-in-cheek "When you least expect it", I'd hazard a guess at 7 to 10 years from now.Don Wells wrote:... forecasts on when Microsoft can be expected to pull the plug ...
My Premise is that Microsoft seems to have a cycle geared to the sunspot cycle, about every ten or twelve years or so a major shift in structure. Since WordBasic wasn't dropped at the latest shift, it probably won't be a candidate for dropping until the next shift.
The latest shift was the 2007 Ribbon/XML format documents.
Prior to that I think the shift was to VBA and the (then) new format of documents in 1997?
The first version of Word for Windows was released in 1989
