Office 2003 upgrade to Microsoft 365

Post by BobArch2 »

My wife's Dell (circa 2010) has finally caused too many issues and a new Dell has been ordered. When she got the original Dell back in 2010 it came with a trial version of Office 2010 but she is adverse to change and wanted to stay with Office 2003. Office 2003 is still working but I have convinced her to have one of my Microsoft 365 subscription licenses. (Wheee)

Research seems to indicate that I should be able to use the 2003 Outlook.PST file when installing Microsoft 365. Since I have a week before the new hardware arrives I thought it best to prepare myself for any pitfalls. (Remember I said that she who rules the roost is adverse to change :hairout: )

The new system, like the old, will be used for emailing and a few other apps. I am concerned about maintaining sanity with emailing.

Any comments or issues about starting with the Outlook 2003 pst file?
Regards,
Bob

Outlook in Microsoft 365 should be able to open the old .pst file without problems.

I would let Outlook create a new .pst file though: the current version has larger capacity and automatic compression. You can then import messages, contacts etc. from the old .pst file into the new one.
Best wishes,
Hans
