I no longer need the flexibility in Office and am wondering what program is a good substitute for Ms Word for creating and reading plain text documents?
Thanks,
Bill

I'll move this thread to the Office General forum since it is not specifically about other e-mail clients.
1) If you need a simpler version of Word, you can use WordPad; it comes with Windows, so it is free. It can be found under Windows Accessories. WordPad can read and write Word documents, but it has far fewer features than Word.
2) If you only want to create and edit plain text files, you can use Notepad. Like WordPad, it comes with Windows and can be found under Windows Accessories. The text files created by Notepad have no formatting at all.

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Thanks, Hans, for the info. Those are the app names that I couldn't remember.
