Office 2013 local template locations

Post by diana »

in File, New menu, a list of templates display.

On Windows 7 64bit where are these templates stored on the local C:\ drive .
Ive googled at it mentions custom templates are stored under the users profile.

I want the default Microsoft template location. and Powerpoints 'Blank Presentation' template.

Ive looked in the following location, and still couldn't locate 'Blank Presentation'

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033

I remember in Office 97 in options the template location path could be set. Is there a similar setting in Office 2013

Many thanks in advance

Many of the templates under File > New are online templates that will be downloaded to the folder: C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates if you choose to select one. The default template location os also in the path I specify above. If you choose to create your own custom or blank template with modifications, it can be saved here and will display in the File > New lists.

See the two links below for more info...

In addition to Rudi's reply: unless you explicitly save a default template for Excel and for PowerPoint, the blank new workbook and blank new presentation will not be based on a physical file.

Word is the only Office application that lets you view and set the user templates path and workgroup templates path; the locations you set here will be used by all Office applications.
In Word, select File > Options.
Click Advanced in the navigation pane on the left.
Scroll down to the General section.
Click File Locations...

In the File Locations dialog, select User Templates, then click Modify... if you want to view or edit the path.

Thank you Hans

whats the best way to load our Company templates to be available to end users.
I would like the same workflow across all the applications ie Word, Excel, Powerpoint & Visio.

Is it possible to create & display our company templates as first preference. I was hoping to use Out-of-the-box Microsoft native functionality instead of having to custom write code or add-ins to load.

TIA
