Office 2010 and 2007

Post by Pat »

I have installed 2003, 2007 and 2010, i have been using Outlook 2010.
Can i uninstall 2010 and 2007 and reinstall 2007, will the pst file that works under 2010 still work under 2007?

Another question, can i keep Outlook 2007 if i install office 2010?

Hi,

I am not a systems engineer, but from my past experience and what I can remember, you can do what you ask above.

The pst file will be readable in any version. As long as you have pointed the Outlook app you are using to the pst file, it will read it.

You can keep Outlook 2007 if you install Office 2010. Very important though is that when you install Office 2010, you choose CUSTOM installation and then deactivate Outlook. I'd also recommend to change the install folder. The default folder is C:\Program Files\Office. I'd change the path to C:\Program Files\Office2010 or something to force it to install to its own folder.

Rudi

Your nk2 file, which contains your autocomplete list for email address names, is imported into your PST file the first time Outlook 2010 is run. See How to import .nk2 files into Outlook 2010 for more information. That is not compatible with Outlook 2007. While the PST file may work your autocomplete list will not.
