Default player

Despite selecting the VLC player option, ticking the box to make it the default player then OK, the next time I attempt to play a downloaded audio or video file the said box is unticked & I have to select the desired player again. Is there something else I need to do that perhaps I am overlooking? Dave.

Ther could be another player thats stealing them, I know Winamp does it, till I tell it otherwise.
