Error Messages

Post by hlewton »

On shut down I am getting "svchost" errors that say something like can't write to memory and when I have my computer active I am getting a "generic host" error that doesn't even allow me to shut the computer down except to hold down the power button. Is there anyway to fix these errors short of reloading XP and starting all over with the computer?

Thanks.

Thanks I will give this a try even though it seems the problem the link is addressing is on startup and mine is on shutdown. I hope that it helps. Still I am wondering if it will do anything for the generic host error I am also getting.

I hate to report that the above link didn't fix it for me. My error code is 0x76dab999 and it is on shut down. I did a google search for a fix for that error code and came up empty. Any other links that anyone may know of would be appreciated.

If you really want to dig into this check out Process Explorer. You can find out the details of the svchost activities.
