Windows 7 Computer Not allowing access

Post by Leesha »

Hi,

My main PC is running Windows 7 Pro as is my laptop. There is another computer on the network running XP. Recently I had my IP address changed to a statis IP. Ever since that point in time, the main PC will not connect to the XP computer nor will it connect to my laptop. The XP computer and and laptop still communicate without any difficulty. I'm not sure that the static IP change even has anyting to do with it. All I know is that the tech was working on the router via my main PC and I've had issues ever since. At this point the only way I can get data off the main PC is to remote into it from the other computers, which is working fine. Any pointers on where to start looking would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Leesha

This could be any one of many different issues.

Could you please try the steps in Troubleshooting shares on a home network and let us know the outcome.
