I just ran updates through HP Support Assistant and when they finished downloading / updating, I got a message stating "Computer will need to restart." I clicked postpone and selected 4 hours (the maximum available) and then I got a message stating "Windows will shut down in less than one minute). I frantically tried saving and closing everything as fast as I could but may 30 seconds through, I got some error message and I don't recall exactly what it said. I could not finish saving everything in time. Some documents were never saved. After the restart, the unsaved documents did not appear in autorecover. Are they lost forever?
I am not sure how helpful these HP Support Updates are, but I think I will only run them when I have all important files and applications closed.

Re: HP Support Assistant forced computer shutdown
If the documents are not autorecovered, the changes are probably lost.
Best wishes,
