Switching monitors

Post by ChrisGreaves »

This has bugged me for almost a year now. Two days ago I found an answer.
The Win7 Home Premium Notebook sits off to one side.
I connect to it through a KVM switch, with the laptop monitor redirected to the DELL CRT display.
I switch to the other computer (Scroll, Up, Up) and use the common Keyboard, Video and Mouse to work there, but when I switch back to the Notebook (Scroll, Up, Up), Win7 stubbornly refuses to light-up the CRT monitor, and sulks way over to the left of me on the Notebook screen.

I've got so good at it that I don't need to see the notebook screen:
  • Show desktop
  • Right-click
  • Screen Resolution
  • Detect Monitor (the CRT goes 'click' but lights not up)
  • Detect Monitor again (the CRT goes 'click' and lights up)
  • Dsiplay 2 (DELL Monitor)
  • OK etc.
So what did I discover?
Right-clicking on the current window seems to be enough to convince Win7 HP to slip back to the DELL CRT right here in front of me.

I want my life back!
