Restore all right click Send To items

Post by viking33 »

I don't know exactly when this changed but now when I right click on a file or folder and scroll down to the "Send To" line, all I am shown is:
Fax Recipient
Floppy Drive (A)
DVD Drive (K)

The default should look like this:
Capture.PNG
When I look at shell:sendto, I see what appears to be the correct entries,
Thus:
Capture1.PNG
I know I can get the expanded view by holding the shift key down when selecting Send to but that isn't the default, which is all I want to see anyway.
How can I restore/repair/unhide the right click context items to the default?
( as you can see, I got the first screenshot from the Seven Forums site but their suggestions don't seem to work )

The "Compressed (zipped) folder", "Desktop (create shortcut)" and "Mail recipient" items in your Send To folder appear to be damaged:
- Their extensions should be hidden.
- They should have a meaningful icon, as in the first screenshot
Did you get these three items from the SevenForums thread? (Windows 7 - Send To Context Menu - Remove or Restore Default Items)
Best wishes,
Hans

Yes I did, in an attempt to replace those items in the shell:send to, folder.

Did you (have to) rename those items?
Best wishes,
Hans

According to the Seven Forum, just download them, extract them to the desktop, then open shell:send to and drag and drop them into that shell folder.

Yes, that should have worked.
Do you see the extensions .desklink etc. in the files that you extracted to the desktop? I do see the extensions in the zip files, but when I extract the files to the desktop, I don't.
Best wishes,
Hans

It looks like the associations for these extensions has become unstuck - did you run a registry cleaner or registry optimizer?
Best wishes,
Hans

The attached zip file contains a file SendToItems.reg with the registry entries for the "Compressed (zipped) folder", "Desktop (create shortcut)" "Documents" and "Mail recipient" file types (extensions). It contains items for both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7.
Download the zip file, extract the reg file to any folder, then double-click the reg file and allow it. Hopefully, the Send To items will work again.
SendToItems.zip
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Best wishes,
Hans

Fantastic, Hans! :clapping:  :chocciebar:

When I ran it, it first came back with the caveat that not all files were copied to the reg. Then realized that it only entered the 64 bit entries and omitted the 32 bit, as it should.
Whatever caused that anomaly with Send To is corrected and all is well in Windows Land again. :thankyou:
