Permissions etc

Post by sswcharlie »

Hi

Win7 Excel2000

Have been using Win7 Excel200 for a couple of years with absolutely no problems.

However just now when I click on the Excel; icon I get message : Windows cannot access the specified device path or file. You many not havepaapropriate permissions to access the item.

I have tried using the .exe file in windows explorer, same message. I right clicked the .exe file and tried some options there, same message.
Just prior to this happening I had downloaded an add-in for Excel (ASAP Utilities) and I have now removed but same message still.

Probable something to do with permissions, but I have tried some combinations with no luck. I am only one using laptop so using System permssions would be ok. That is what it is set at. Have tried administrator with no luck either.

Any ideas I can try ? (Word is opening OK)

Thanks

Charlie Harris

Try Jan Karel Pieterse's Fixing Startup problems. Despite the title, it's not just for startup problems.
Best wishes,
