Determining Screen Size

Post by BobH »

Is there any way to determine what size the current screen is? I frequently get web pages served up that bleed off to the right of my monitor. I adjust by using Shift>Scroll. I'm looking for a means to determine what my preferred screen size is so that I can set the display screen size in Control Panel.

Bob,

Right click on the desktop and choose "Screen Resolution". The dialog box will have a Resolution drop down with options and a "recommended" resolution (pixel width x height).

HTH.

This happens because the webmaster is using a wider page than you are.
In my opinion, this is a poor practice of a webmaster.

When these wide screens first came onboard, way to many web sites were this way. One had to scroll left and right because of poor programming of the web data. We see less of this today because most of us have thrown away the 640 x 800 monitors.

That said using IE 11 and a few version before, all one has to do is change the zoom factor that shown in the Status bar.
I am sure that other browsers have this function.

Where should I measure that? At the shoulders, at the chest, or at the hip?
Best wishes,
