God Mode in Windows 7

Post by viking33 »

From PC mag:
God Mode It may be hyperbolically named, but Windows 7's God Mode is indeed omnipresent. It conveniently puts hundreds of settings from all around the operating system all in one place.
-----------------------------
To turn on God Mode, create a new folder on your desktop--or anywhere you'd like--and name it: GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}. Don't include the final period. The resulting folder will contain 270 items, representing virtually every configurable option in Windows 7.
----------------------------

Just name it that long name, Don't put anything in the folder. Click on it and viola! All those settings and stuff right there in a list of links to them! :clapping:

Huh?
I'm nothing special, in fact I'm a bit of a bore

Don't worry about it, Rudi - John's probably in a bard mood.

Thanks, Rudi. Didn't remember that Dennis and Chris had mentioned it back in August.

Uh . . . ran into a problem with this folder.

First, I cannot get it to go into the task bar. I'm allowed to pin it to something already there - File Explorer for example - but cannot add it on its own. I'd like to pin it there for easy access.

Second, I opened the folder to Administrative Tools but there is no option to open the IIS Manager. I can reach it via Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager therefore I know that it exists on my system.

Another day as the bug instead of the windscreen. :hairout:

You cannot pin it directly to the taskbar as it is a folder that has a dependency (or is associated) with File Explorer. Its generally only *.exe files that can be added directly to the taskbar. If you pin it to File Explorer you will still have quick access to it by right clicking on the Explorer icon (or click and slide up) to access the jump list and access it as a pinned item in there.

I did put this shortcut on my Win 7 machines a month or so ago. Don't use it much but it is nice to have when needed. I did rename it though to "All Commands" so a year from now I hope I still know what the shortcut is used for.
