I've just replaced a number of XP PCs in a workgroup with Windows 7 Pro PCs, and networked a couple of ethernet printers and changed their names for consistency.
When I come to do Add Printers on the new PCs, browse offers many old printer names, sometimes showing as connected to the previous PC names.
Is there any way I can remove these obsolete printer names? Is it the fault of the browse master that old names are kept?

You need to flush the DNS and NETBIOS name caches, I posted the instructions for this in another post a few moments ago.

Re: Obsolete network printers
Thanks, Stuart - this worked for the list of networked/shared printers after a few minutes!
