Sounds all very complicated ... with millions of Windows users not even knowing about this then very few will take action to remove the offending updates.

If deemed 'essential' then is it just a simple matter of removing the mentioned updates or does one still need to 'play around' with the other issues?

(By the way, I've rebooted Windows 8.1 several times without problems after installing the August 12, 2014 updates)
