I am trying to stop Windows Media Player from being the default program opening DVD movies. I have tried to change the file association by following steps I found on the WEB but for some reason it is not working. In the attached screenshot I have found the “Set associations for a program” dialog box for the Windows Media Player and I can find a few instances in it that mention DVD but it will not let me uncheck any of those entries. So I’m not sure what is happening. At present the DVD movie always opens using Windows Media Player but I’d like to be offered the choice of what program I want to use to view a DVD movie. How can I do that?
Thanks

Re: Changing Windows Media Associations in Win 7
Select Start > Control Panel.
Type AutoPlay in the search box, then open AutoPlay (it should be the only search result).
Click on DVD movie and select the option "Ask me every time".
Do the same for Enhanced DVD movie.
Finally, click Save.
