It has just started. Whenever I right click on a folder name Windows Explorer closes.
Has anyone got any answers?

Hi Pat,
See this thread which points to a corrupt context menu item.
Most persons following the advice of the first post seem to have concluded with a resolution...

Re: Right Click closes Windows Explorer
This could be caused by a shell extension - an "add-on" that adds functionality to Windows Explorer.
You can investigate which shell extensions have been installed by using the free utility ShellExView.
Let it scan the registry, then sort on the Type column. Look for the entries of type "Context Menu".
You could try disabling the non-Microsoft context menu handlers one by one (you can do so from ShellExView) to see if and when the problem goes away.

Thanks Rudi for your input.
Hans came up trumps, thank you very much.
It was XPClient.FileSystemBrowser.BackupContextMenuExtension.BackupContextMenuExtension, what ever that is??

Re: Right Click closes Windows Explorer
It appears to belong to ASUS WebStorage - does that ring a bell?
Best wishes,
Hans

I don't know why that is, it only started happening yesterday afternoon, i had dowloaded an app to view old PST files and also SpyBot.
Do I need to delete that item from somewhere?

Re: Right Click closes Windows Explorer
Maybe it was installed with your app that you downloaded yesterday.
If Hans identified the correct app, ASUS WebStorage, either try to delete it with Revo Uninstaller which removes all traces of the app (if it is indeed listed n the programs list), or you could do a System Restore and then reinstall the app to view PST's, but be vigilant to ensure it does not add the ASUS app as "crapware" during the installation. Check the step by step installation and ensure you deactivate options for extra free tools and apps.

On the other hand, if the problem doesn't reoccur, you might leave it as it is.
Best wishes,
Hans
