Can a password be put for a folder to open?

Suppose, a folder name is 'XYZ' and in its there are so many sub folders like "A","B" etc.and all of these having so many files.Can we put up a self password to open the folder 'XYZ' only ,not to the subfolders? Is it possible?

That looks like a Windows question, not an Excel question. Or is this intended for use in Excel? If so, how?

That means,it is not possible to protect a folder with password in Excel scenario.Thanks for the comment.

If it is for distribution purposes, you can always zip the folder with a password. The recipient can unzip it with a single password to access the subfolders and files. If it is for security on a company network, its best to speak to the network administrator.

Yes - it is possible to password protect via Windows - you can "password protect" individual sub folders or the entire folder - however - if you protect the the main folder access to individual files will be blocked

What you need to do is set the "Traverse folder" special permission on the top level folder for these users. This will allow them to access the subfolders, but only if they already know the name of the subfolder.
