Breaking old chains and building new links

Post by Jan Karel Pieterse »

Hi,

My site's links page used to have a link to the other place.
I decided it high time to change that and have now replaced that link with one that points here.

So what about your site, have you replaced links to you-know-where to here yet?
Regards,

You bet I have. And not just a link but a graphic link: AlHoffman.Org

I hope others will do the same.

Good thinking. I have now! Shame the rest of my site is so out-of-date!

It was so out of date that the link pointed to the old wopr.com address!

http://www.igwilson.net and follow the Links tab.

Ian

Edited later: a bit of quick work and it's much more up to date. Why did I put it off for so long? It wasn't that hard!

I went to have a quick look at your site and on the links page, I clicked the "including me" link against The Road of the Cell Masters, only to be rewarded by Avast popping up a message that it had blocked access to a malicious site.

What's up?

Here is Google's Safe Browsing diagnosis page for puremis.net where "The road of the cell masters:" is located.

Thanks. I'm not sure what to make of the information provided. And Avast seems to think something is wrong.

That is a good example of a false positive. I see nothing wrong with the site.

####EDIT###
On second thought, maybe something is wrong there. I have emailed Colo to ask if he is aware of the situation.

Better a false positive than a false negative, I suppose. Though it seems to tie in with the Google diagnosis linked to in mbarron's post (though I was not sure what that all meant!)

Ian

Edited to add: sorry, I posted before I saw your edit.

Better safe than sorry I s'pose. Best wait for me to get feedback from the site owner.
My own site is safe, I can assure you :-)

I'm sure it is. Lots of interesting looking links there.

I'm seeing the same thing. However the Netcraft Risk Rating on the site is green, i.e., no risk. Here is its site report: http://toolbar.netcraft.com/site_report ... uremis.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (doesn't tell me much).

I checked with Colo (he's a former Excel MVP).
He says -as far as he knows- there is nothing malicious on his site.
I expect if you stick to the Excel related pages you should be just fine.
I also asked him what the home page of this site (puremis.net) is all about, given the site title, which shows "Pure Misschief".
The Excel pages are on a subfolder \Excel\ and appear not related to what is on the home page. Odd.

Anyway, just make sure you change your links to Eileen's lounge, which is what this thread was about :-)

Well if Avast flags up an issue, I'll back off.

Done that!
